Under a beautiful autumn sun, elected officials from La Hague and the Tourp team welcomed representatives from the GECC (Cotentin Cetacean Study Group) on Friday, November 21st, to present their new exhibition, "Bottlenose Dolphins and Other Marine Mammals in Normandy." Led by its president, Gérard Mauger, the GECC showcases magnificent photographs of dolphins and marine mammals that inhabit our coasts. Accompanied texts provide valuable insights into the lives of cetaceans and how to protect them.

This was also an opportunity to inform the public about the actions undertaken by the Commune of La Hague within the Natura 2000 site "Anse de Vauville," outlined in a management plan that strikes a balance between the use of the protected area and environmental concerns. The upcoming approval of this plan, the result of collaborative work between community organizations, sea users, government agencies, and local fishermen, will mark a new stage in the preservation of this exceptional site.

Highlighting these species, often discreet but heavily impacted by our collective behaviors, invites everyone to become aware of the impact of human activities on biodiversity.
