La Hague is a geologically fascinating territory, whose rocks bear witness to how this land at the edge of the world was formed. Observing them is like reading an open book, provided you speak their language! Our geologist, acting as a kind of "translator," is here to listen and share their captivating story, all within the magnificent setting of Ecalgrain Bay.
The program includes:
– Introduction, concepts of time in geology, the rock cycle, plate tectonics
– Observation of a granodiorite approximately 580 million years old, igneous rocks
– Observation of a fault contact between a granodiorite and sedimentary rocks (sandstone and shales), fossil current ripples, traces of fossil worms. The presence of a sea on the Hague plateau, mountain range
– Folded rocks: plate tectonics and the formation of the mountain range
Duration: 2 hours – Distance: 1.5 km – Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Difficulty: medium (blue) – Progression on pebble beach, rocks of the foreshore, wet and slippery area.
