The La Hague Geopark supports research activities carried out in the territory to increase knowledge about local heritage, and to better understand the balance of our ecosystems.
It is notably thanks to geologists, geomorphologists, archaeologists, geographers, specialists in art history and heritage, in language science, maritime history, eco-anthropology, that the Hague can constantly learn more about this territory and thus invent new mediations.
Two research project support campaigns are open each year
- The first period runs from April 1st to 30th for projects scheduled to start in year N
- The second period, from September 1st to 30th, is for projects scheduled to start in year N+1
The scientific projects undertaken must therefore meet 3 prerequisites:
- concern the fields of earth sciences, biodiversity, intangible heritage, cultural heritage, natural risks or climate change
- Improve scientific knowledge within the perimeter of the geoparc (without reducing)
- Be transferred to geoparc in an accessible science, understandable by the public (to fuel the strategy of interpretation of heritage and environmental education and sustainable development of geoparc)
Being engaged in an approach as a large site in France also, the objective of this support is also to understand the spatial, social and natural dynamics which organized human occupations to better register the Hague in a sustainable and balanced development, which preserves the planet.
A heritage fund that is enriched every year
The Côtis-Capel media library (Le Tourp, Maison de la Hague) has a fund of more than 10,000 documents related to local heritage. In addition to the activities of a general media library, she also has the mission of collecting new documents with individuals or institutions: postcards, sound archives, films, books, but also scientific research work (memories, theses, etc.) with the objective of advancing our territory.
Practical information for the reception of groups
The municipality of La Hague has several group accommodations (accommodating up to 15 people or even two groups of 15) in the delegated municipalities of Biville, Urville-Nacqueville, and Digulleville. In addition, the Thomas Hélye reception center, located in Biville and managed by the Diocese of Coutances, also offers a large-capacity accommodation.
