Natural treasures of the Vauville reserve, with the GONm.
A vast freshwater depression located in the heart of one of the region's largest dune systems, the Vauville pond was shaped by the elements approximately 10,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age. Classified as a national nature reserve since 1976, the site is home to a rich and adapted fauna and flora, making this unique landscape one of the natural jewels of La Hague. Covering an area of approximately 60 hectares, the reserve encompasses a diversity of natural habitats that evolve according to the changing conditions: wind, sea spray, drought, etc., are all factors that contribute to the flourishing biodiversity of the site. As part of the reserve's 50th anniversary celebrations, this exhibition, composed of large-format photographs and explanatory texts, offers a fascinating exploration of these different environments and the sometimes surprising species that inhabit them. It also alerts visitors to the effects of climate change and the threats facing this unique and fragile site.
