The rock of the Vendon castle

Made famous by Jean-François Millet, whose painting is currently on display at the Thomas-Henry Museum in Cherbourg, this site is also a geological landmark. It is one of the few places in France where one can observe Icartian rocks, nearly 2.1 billion years old, which are among the oldest rocks in Western Europe.
