The Pointe d'Etimbert

This site shows how ancient pebbles found in Cambrian conglomerates and arkoses were crushed and stretched by powerful tectonic forces, linked to the disappearance of an ocean and the formation of the Hercynian chain.

Two geological units are visible on this site:

• augen gneisses
• Cambrian conglomerates and arkoses that rest on the former.
