The cliffs of the Baie d'Herquemoulin
The cliffs of Herquemoulin Bay are from old landslides, a consequence of the alternations of glacial and temperate periods in the quaternary.
During glacial periods, the rocks of the slopes freeze. And the rehearsal of gel/thaw fractures rocks, creating angular blocks. During these glacial periods, the wind drops off at the same time, fine sandy particles (Loess) from the bottom of the sleeve then withdrawn.

During the passage from the glacial phase to interglacial, all this material saturates in water (thaw of ice, rain) and descends the reliefs to accumulate at the bottom of the slope generating these cliffs mixing rocky and loess blocks.
