Vauville's career

Vauville's career

Vauville's career was opened in the training known as May's sandstone. These so -called "sedimentary" rocks come from the consolidation of an old sand on which the currents and the waves have left their footprints. These elements thus testify to sedimentation in a slightly agitated shallow marine environment.

Formed between 455 and 470 million years old, these rocks are present in many houses in the village of Vauville.

Deposited horizontally, these layers were then switched during the formation of the Hercynian chain, between 360 and 300 million years ago (they belong to the northern flank of the Siouville syncline).
