The Landes of Vauville
Large hills interspersed with narrow and very cashed valleys at the bottom of which are nestled streams, the most important of which is that of the large valley, the Landes de Vauville are home to particular plant species, linked to poor and acidic soil conditions, and a hyperoceanic climate: the bowls and heathers are the most emblematic.

Three sources, named "Source des Hougues", "Source des Suets" and "Fontaine de Bouland" fuel the stream of the Grande Vallée. These sources are at altitudes between 120 and 150 m under sea level and on the edge between the altered and fresh Cambrian rocks. Fresh Cambrian rocks are supposed to be relatively impermeable, while their altered counterparts have higher porosity and permeability, which allows them to act as a small local aquifer. This phenomenon illustrates how even rocks considered to be waterproof can provide surface water resources thanks to the effects of alteration.
The area of the moors, their geographical position, or their floristic composition are also as many favorable factors to certain unusual birds: Pitchou bell, crashing of Europe, Busard St-Martin, Courlis Cendré, .. or even the owl of the marshes, which winters there every year.
